    Position: Warehouse Worker

    Department: Facility Services

    Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt

    Immediate Supervisor(s): Director of Facility Services

    Pay Grade: Per Compensation Manual

    Days Employed: Per Compensation Manual

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    • Receive, store, and issue maintenance/custodial supplies, equipment, and parts
    • Pick up/deliver supplies, equipment, and parts as directed by the supervisor
    • Perform computer input to record these activities and maintain inventory

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certification:

    • High School diploma or G.E.D.
    • Valid Texas CDL driver's license with a good driving record

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    • Personal and professional experience working in a warehouse environment
    • Demonstrate a knowledge of basic computer skills
    • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other related warehouse equipment
    • Demonstrate knowledge of basic inventory concepts of issue and receipt
    • Understand bills of lading and other shipping documents
    • Ability to lift 60 lbs on a repetitive basis
    • Comfortable working in various climate conditions and circumstances
    • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner and have no significant violations within the last three years
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district may find appropriate and acceptable

    Experience:

    • Experience in warehouse shipping and receiving

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintain and perform safe work habits, and follow all safety rules required by the school district
    • Possess the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and oral communication
    • Receive, store, and retrieve incoming equipment, parts, and supplies, using bills of lading, packing slips, and purchasing documents
    • Must perform accurate counts and basic math functions
    • Perform inventory counts as directed by the supervisor
    • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly warehouse at all times
    • Assist in resolving shipping errors, damage claims, and inventory discrepancies as needed
    • Maintain personal appearance and grooming to a standard required by the supervisor
    • Use appropriate eye protection/hearing protection/fume or dust protection, as circumstances require

    • Tools/Equipment Used: Computer, ladder, dolly, scaffolding, pallet jack, hand & power tools, hand truck, District vehicle, ladder, and fork lift
    • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from the floor to knuckle height on an occasional basis or 1 to 3 times a day, occasionally repetitively
    • Sustain standing tolerance up to 7 hours a day
    • Sustain walking tolerance up to .75 miles a day
    • Ability to climb a minimum of 25 steps, average height 8 inches
    • Ability to climb 6, 8, or 10-foot ladders
    • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills
    • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Gross body mechanics (balance) i.e., walking, standing on a ladder, etc.
    • Repetitive forward reaching up to 30 times an hour
    • Repetitive overhead reaching up to 20 times an hour
    • Repetitive forward bending up to 20 times an hour
    • Repetitive stopping up to 30 times an hour
    • Repetitive kneeling up to 30 times an hour
    • Repetitive handling and gripping of various objects up to 30 pounds
    • Sustain exposure tolerance for up to 5 minutes
    • Sustain forward reaching tolerance up to 5 minutes
    • Sustain overhead reaching tolerance up to 5 minutes
    • Sustain forward bending tolerance for up to 30 minutes
    • Sustain stooping tolerance for up to 20 minutes
    • Sustain kneeling tolerance for up to 20 minutes
    • Access and use appropriate eye, hearing, and/or fume/dust protection

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, listen and talk. The employee is required to frequently stand, walk and lift multiple items of various weights up to 60 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception. While performing these duties the employee will experience temperatures in various buildings that may or may not be air-conditioned. The employee may be temporarily exposed to exhaust fumes from trucks and forklifts.

    The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate and 90% of work will be performed indoors.
