EB Groton Shipyard
Overview
This is a 2nd shift position, with the occasional flexibility to work on 3rd shift as necessary. Initial training will be conducted on 1st shift for 8-12 weeks. Self-starter, working in various warehouses to receive, locate and issue material and support the material kitting process in support of ship's schedules. This position could be located in a primary warehouse or work in process area. The warehouses are both indoor and outdoor located in Groton, North Stonington, Norwich, and Plainfield. Lifting and handling of various weights for receiving and issuing of material is required.
Responsibilities:
Candidatemust have basic understanding of how to use a computer and corresponding tools such as hand held devices, tablets, etc. to supportcurrent and futurewarehouse material systems so they can do electronic receipts, material picks, material tracking and issuance of material.
Familiar with receiving and issuing hazardous material and SDS requirements is a plus
A good understanding ofcomputersis required to access and update EB's ITS (Inventory Tracking System), MRP II (Materials Resource Planning), Electronic Work Package (EWP), Pitch Catch, Real Time Outfitting Management Information Systems (ROMIS) and others for accessing company and warehousing procedures and training
Position requires driving a forklift and on occasion, potentially work at heights up to 40 feet while utilizing a forklift
Candidate must be able to obtain a forklift license within Electric Boat within the first month
Candidate is required to have basic math skills to be able to support the receipt and issuance of linear unit of measure material and potentially cut material to the correct dimensions prior to issuing the material
This position may required going on board a Submarine for loading On-Board Repair Parts (OBRPs)
Responsibilities
General knowledge and experience in using inventory applications on a computer or tablet
Past experience operating a forklift
Follow directions based on procedure
Operate forklift machinery
Recognize warning labels
Accurately transfer material markings
Navigate inventory applications
Use handheld scanners
Must be able to multitask
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
1-5 years previous warehousing experience or a similar type of position with experience receiving, locating, segregating and issuing material
A good understanding of computers/tablets
Ability to work indoors and outdoors
Must possess good math skills (able to convert square foot to square inch, square inch to square foot)
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense
