Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Wastewater Treatment Operator to operate and maintain wastewater treatment systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will monitor treatment processes, perform routine inspections, collect samples, maintain accurate records, and respond to equipment or process issues. Previous wastewater treatment experience or operator certification is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment and processes
Inspect pumps, blowers, valves, tanks, filters, clarifiers, and other treatment equipment
Monitor flow rates, levels, pressures, chemical feed systems, and process conditions
Collect and test wastewater samples according to established procedures
Record operating data, test results, chemical usage, and maintenance activities
Make routine process adjustments to maintain proper treatment performance
Identify abnormal operating conditions and troubleshoot equipment or process issues
Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs
Assist maintenance personnel with equipment repairs and preventative maintenance
Handle and monitor treatment chemicals in accordance with safety procedures
Maintain accurate daily operating logs and regulatory documentation
Follow applicable environmental regulations, company procedures, and safety requirements
Maintain clean and orderly treatment areas
Respond to alarms, equipment failures, spills, and other operational issues
Work with supervisors, maintenance personnel, laboratory staff, and other team members as needed
Qualifications
Previous experience in wastewater treatment, water treatment, industrial utilities, or a related field preferred
Wastewater Operator certification or the ability to obtain certification preferred
Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, pumps, valves, chemical feed systems, and related equipment
Basic understanding of water chemistry, sampling, and laboratory testing
Ability to read gauges, meters, equipment manuals, and operating instructions
Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills
Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate records
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures
Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions in accordance with operating procedures
Ability to work outdoors and in industrial environments under varying weather conditions
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders or stairs, and work around tanks and equipment
Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment, tools, and chemical containers as required
Ability to wear required PPE and work safely around chemicals, wastewater, machinery, and confined-area environments
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
