The Wastewater Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, and coordination of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, collection systems, and distribution networks. This role supports projects for municipal, county, and public sector clients, ensuring systems are efficient, compliant, and sustainable.
The Wastewater Engineer works closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop engineering solutions, prepare technical documentation, and support projects from concept through construction. This position plays a key role in improving and maintaining critical public infrastructure systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop engineering solutions for wastewater treatment plants, collection systems, and pumping stations.
Prepare technical documents including plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
Perform hydraulic modeling, system analysis, and process evaluations for wastewater systems.
Support the planning and design of new systems and upgrades to existing infrastructure.
Coordinate with engineers, designers, and project teams to ensure accurate and efficient project delivery.
Provide engineering support during construction, including inspections and field coordination.
Assist in permitting processes and ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with public agencies and utility authorities to support project execution.
Conduct data analysis and technical studies related to water quality, system performance, and capacity.
Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in water/wastewater engineering, design, or modeling.
Experience working on municipal or public works infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes and collection systems.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
Experience with hydraulic modeling and engineering analysis tools is preferred.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (P.E. license) or ability to obtain licensure.
Experience with treatment plant design, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
Familiarity with environmental regulations, permitting processes, and public agency coordination.
Experience supporting projects through design, permitting, and construction phases.
