Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to: Teach TCEQ-approved wastewater courses to prepare students for the Class D Operator certification exam. Provide instruction on wastewater system operations, safety protocols, and maintenance procedures. Educate students on TCEQ regulations and compliance requirements.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with TCEQ curriculum standards.
Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of the content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods, and schedule of work.
Assess student progress and provide guidance to ensure readiness for certification.
Foster a positive and engaging learning environment for adult learners.
Maintain daily attendance rosters. Input final student grades. Submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to Career Training in the Continuing Education Department.
Minimum Qualifications
Current TCEQ Class D Wastewater Operator Certification (or higher).
At least three (3) years of professional experience in wastewater operations.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Strong understanding of wastewater treatment principles, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Detail oriented and organized with effective communication and professionalism skills.
Possess workplace critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline provided to ensure course content and objectives are met.
Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate various learning styles of students.
Ability to utilize instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other appropriate media in instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
Post-secondary education in environmental science or related field.
Previous experience teaching/conducting a course/program in a post-secondary setting.
Experience developing lesson plans and curriculum for instruction.
Prior experience with CANVAS.
