Job Specifications

We're seeking Wastewater Treatment Mechanics at all levels to help ensure the safe and reliable operation of the City's wastewater treatment facilities and pump stations. From entry-level maintenance to advanced system repairs and leadership, you'll play a key role in protecting public health and the environment. What You'll Do:

• Support maintenance, repair, and operation of wastewater facilities and pump stations.
• Operate trucks, motorized equipment, and specialized tools.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in on-call/standby rotations.
• Complete training on safety, asset management, and environmental practices.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Minimum Training & Experience

Preference may be given to candidates with at least one year of mechanical experience that includes installation and/or repair of mechanical pumps, motors, blowers, gear boxes or similar equipment, or a Millwright Industrial Mechanic (Levels I & II) Certification from an accredited institution.

Requirement for all levels:

• High School Diploma or GED; AND
• Valid Class E driver's license at the time of appointment
• CDL Learner's Permit within 3 months: AND
• Class A CDL within 9 months (with required endorsements) from the date of appointment as a condition of continued employment; AND
• Register with FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse

Note: Individuals hired into this job class after December 26, 2015, must attend and pass the internal training courses, including Industrial Milwright Level I if not already completed and examinations designated for the Wastewater Treatment Mechanic I job class and satisfactorily demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities and proficiencies acquired through classroom and on-the-job training within 24 months of hire into the job class, as a condition of continued employment.

Mechanic II:

• Two years of utility construction or wastewater maintenance experience;

OR

• Two years as a Wastewater Treatment Mechanic I

Mechanic III:

• Three years of mechanical experience (installation/repair of pumps, motors, blowers, gearboxes, etc.);

OR

• Two years as a Wastewater Treatment Mechanic II

Additional Certifications:

• Mechanic I: Must obtain FWPCOA Class "C" Collections Certification and complete internal training

within 24 months

• Mechanic II: Must hold FWPCOA Class "C" Certification and complete internal Mechanic I training
• Mechanic III: Must hold FWPCOA Class "B" Certification and complete internal Mechanic I & II training

and testing

Salary Range

$16.1262 to $50.7388/hourly.

Additional Information

Crews work four 10-hour days: Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday
