Job Purpose or Objective(s): Responsible for maintaining organization of all aspects of the Choctaw Nation's Research and Data Acquisition program in the Office of Water Resource Management. Collects and analyses all field and sampling data to develop statistical trend models of water quality and watershed basin impairments aimed at assisting decision makers implement Water Settlement Agreement provisions. You will report to the Water Data Acquisition Analyst.

Regular/Full Time, 100% onsite

Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Primary Tasks:

  • Maintains all Research and Data Acquisition inventory and scientific data lists, reports, and records.
  • Responsible for collecting and analyzing data and assisting with the implementation of the Clean Water Act (CWA) 106 grant, Tribal Rotating Basins QAPP, and other grant program provisions as assigned.
  • You will maintains all office data, assists in the maintenance and analysis of statistical water and watershed models that demonstrate data trends, and provides unbiased results to leadership to support Water Settlement Agreement implementation strategies.
  • Support the direct supervisor to identify and quantify potential impacts at monitoring sites using field reconnaissance, satellite imagery, and statistical trend prediction methodologies.
  • Responsible for maintaining records regarding calibration of equipment, report submittals, documentation of activities, troubleshooting, sampling, laboratory, and field data collection and associated equipment.
  • You will review and determine other federal and state programs that can be implemented in Choctaw Nation Reservation to improve water sources and the long-term sustainability of those resources; assist in the development of CWA 319 program for implementation within the Choctaw Nation reservation.
  • Assist in the development of recommendations for remediation and corrective actions and best management practices; develop education and outreach materials and presentations of the benefits of best management practices for a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Analyze and report data into national and tribal databases as required by EPA, the Tribe, and quality assurance documents' guidelines.
  • You will assist with the compilation of quarterly progress reports. Assist with the completion of progress reporting documents, review of monthly financial reports, and assist in monitoring and oversight of the CWA, and other grant budgets.
  • Assist in finding grant funding opportunities, development of grant narratives, maintain and revise grant objectives, work plans, budgets and action items.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a science related field; or 4 years in scientific data management in lieu of education.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute tasks
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and detailed-orientated
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of grant acquisition, and management
  • Knowledge of GIS software capabilities
  • Two (2) years of related work in the environmental field, including: research compilation, data analysis, project management, drafting technical and nontechnical reports
