Supervisor: Water Distribution Field Supervisor/ Crew Leader
Supervises: Equipment Operator III may supervise Distribution Operators/Maintenance Workers in absence of Crew Leader
Grade: 5 or 7 Pay Range: $21.483-$31.902/hr. or $24.423-$37.610/ hr.
Class Characteristics: Under general supervision, operates light to medium vehicles and equipment and performs maintenance worker duties when not operating vehicles or equipment.
General Duties and Responsibilities:Operates light to medium vehicles and equipment to construct and maintain water distribution system. Performs preventive maintenance duties on equipment and vehicles. Cleans vehicles and equipment after use. Detects malfunctions in equipment and makes minor repairs or recommendations for major repairs. Ensures proper operation of equipment following traffic safety regulations. Equipment Operator II serves as back-up operator in absence of Equipment Operator III. Performs maintenance duties when not operating vehicles and equipment. Equipment Operator III assists in the installation of water taps and correcting problems in water lines. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent, supplemented by, EOII: three (3) years of construction work experience, including operation and maintenance of construction equipment and vehicles, EOIII: five (5) years of full-time or nearly full-time work experience operating and maintaining excavation equipment (i.e. backhoe, track hoe or equivalent), including maintenance or the operation of vehicles and equipment. Attendance at vocational school in related field preferred, but not required.
Certification/Licensing Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Class I-IV WD Certification is desired but not required.
Availability:Must be able to respond to calls in emergency situations at any time.
Overtime Provision: Non-exempt.
