Our Tomlinson South Meridian YMCA is seeking a Water Group Exercise Instructor to join our Aquatics Team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a safe, friendly, and helpful atmosphere for members participating in water group exercise classes.

The South Meridian Branch of the Treasure Valley YMCA is unlike any other in the country. Our 60,000-square-foot facility is part of a unique collaboration that combines family recreation, education, sports, literacy, and wellness care on a single campus called "The Hill." Hand in hand with our partners-St. Luke's Health System, the West Ada School District, and the City of Meridian-the South Meridian Family Y will help us build A BETTER US.

Schedule:

This is a part-time position averaging 4-12 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are typically in the mornings but open to afternoons and evenings. Pay is $18.40-$23.00 per class.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop intentional relationships and create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Use the class platform to educate and inform participants about other Y program offerings.
  • Conduct class in a quality, fun, and safe manner that results in increased attendance. Follow fitness trends and utilize prescribed formats when applicable.
  • Actively identify participants who need additional support, such as new members, health seekers, and participants with diverse abilities.
  • Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants.
  • Provide excellent delivery of water group exercise instruction to all members.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
  • Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.

Required Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Prerequisite upon hire - 14-day compliance period.
  • First Aid - Prerequisite upon hire - 14-day compliance period.
  • Emergency Oxygen - Prerequisite upon hire - 14-day compliance period.
  • Y Aquatic Safety Assistant (YASA)- Prerequisite upon hire - 90-day compliance period.
  • Approved Water Fitness Certification - Prerequisite upon hire - 90-day compliance period.
