POSITION SUMMARY

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Water Quality Supervisor within the DuPage County Stormwater Management Department.

Hybrid work is available upon completion of a 6-month probationary period and supervisor approval.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilites include:

  • Supervises the work of subordinate personnel engaged in projects related to water quality
  • Recommends hires and promotions, directs and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positions
  • Initiates, develops, organizes and coordinates the implementation of program goals for the Water Quality program in conformance with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) guidelines
  • Develops and implements five (5) year plans related to discharge of stormwater and pollutant impacts
  • Coordinates with watershed partners including municipal and state staff on expansion of water quality programs across the County and watershed
  • Attends stakeholder meetings
  • Researches and reviews water quality measures that have been implemented outside of DuPage County
  • Provides input towards regulatory initiatives
  • Develops watershed plans and stream bank stabilization project development
  • Assists in efforts to acquire grant funding
  • Prepares reports detailing the status of compliance with permit conditions and progress of statutory goals related to the reduction of discharge of pollutants for submission to the IEPA
  • Operates and maintains field equipment used to monitor water quality

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Botany, Soils, Natural Resources or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience coordinating efforts to identify and mitigate water quality problems including two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Must possess and maintain in good standing, a valid Illinois driver's license.
