This is your chance to join our team - help us to understand today’s needs and develop plans to improve the movement of people and goods!The Water/Wastewater Process Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the evaluation, planning, design, and construction administration of municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities & processes, distribution and collection systems, chemical storage & feed systems, and process mechanical, piping and pumping systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the planning, design, and analysis of water and wastewater treatment facility infrastructure and associated process mechanical systemsDevelop plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for pumping stations, treatment facilities, and related infrastructurePerform hydraulic analyses, equipment selection, and system sizingSupport project development activities including permitting and coordination with regulatory agenciesProvide construction administration services, including shop drawing review, field observations, and coordination with contractorsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budgetRequired QualificationsBachelor of Science in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program5–10 years of relevant experience in evaluating and designing process piping and process mechanical systemsStrong understanding of mechanical systems, fluid mechanics, and treatment processesProficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Revit or other 3D modeling software is a plusExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environmentPreferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical EngineeringFamiliarity and experience with water and wastewater treatment facility processes and designLicensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the commonwealth of VirginiaBenefits:WRA recognizes that employees play an important role in its success.
