Water Wastewater Utility Technician

LaTrae Consulting Group is hiring a Water Wastewater Utility Technician for our client in Seabrook Island, South Carolina. This position supports daily operations of water treatment, wastewater treatment, and distribution systems serving the local community.
This is a hands on utility operations role ideal for someone with experience in water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, public works, or municipal utility systems.
Primary Responsibilities
• Assist with daily water treatment and wastewater treatment plant operations
• Monitor pumps, motors, blowers, valves, and distribution equipment
• Record meter readings and operating data
• Collect water and wastewater samples and assist with basic lab testing
• Support preventive maintenance and minor repairs on plant and field equipment
• Perform water distribution system work including meter reading, valve locating, hydrant checks, and service line support
• Respond to service calls and emergency situations as needed
• Participate in on call rotation
• Maintain compliance with safety and environmental standards
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required
• 1 to 2 years of experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, utilities, public works, or environmental services
• Experience with pumps, motors, valves, or basic mechanical maintenance preferred
• Valid driver license required
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Willingness to obtain state level water and wastewater operator certifications within 24 months
