Position Summary Responsible for leading JMTs water and wastewater projects across the Washington DC metropolitan area, this role works closely with clients in the District of Columbia and surrounding communities in Maryland and Virginia to deliver reliable, high-quality infrastructure solutions. The Senior Project Manager serves as a trusted advisor to municipal and utility clients, overseeing projects from early planning through delivery to ensure expectations are met for scope, schedule, and budget. This individual plays a visible role in building and maintaining client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and supporting business development and pursuit efforts aligned with regional growth priorities. In addition to project oversight, the role includes leading and mentoring project teams, fostering collaboration across disciplines, and ensuring work reflects JMTs commitment to client service quality and sustainable community outcomes. Collaborate with disciplines and subconsultants to develop a risk-averse project scope and fee. Develop project-specific project plans, including Project Management Plans and Quality Management Plans. Manage subconsultants. Monitor and execute project progress, including identifying and mitigating risks, developing extra work order requests, and open-end contract task proposals. Develop and lead project status presentations. Coordinate and guide all technical resources within the project team to ensure the delivery of a high-quality outcome. Leverage advanced knowledge and experience with the client and project type to analyze the project, anticipate potential risks such as overruns and scope changes, and implement effective mitigation strategies. Implement strategies for project tracking and reporting by using project performance metrics to foresee and mitigate issues. Marketing and Business Development Build relationships with clients to understand preferences and requirements to set-up and execute a quality project. Develop and maintain a strong network of clients and other industry stakeholders. Identify leads with targeted clients for development and execution into contract opportunities. Assist Section Heads, Office Leaders, and Practice Leaders with the marketing process, including SMART Go/No-Go decisions, proposal development, interviews, and developing a win strategy. Collaborate with Section Head and Office Leader on identifying leads and opportunities based on strategic goals. Assist Section Head and Office Leader with developing strategic goals based on clients program information, etc. Financial Performance Participate in offices project financial status meetings. Prepare progress reports and review invoices. People Management Provide coaching and mentorship to the project team through one-on-one check-ins and various project debriefs to acknowledge achievements, identify areas for improvement, and share lessons learned. Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management, setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meetings, and coaching that supports the growth and development of the team. Required Experience Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program. 15 years of experience. Professional Engineering License in District of Columbia, Maryland, and/or Virginia. Business development experience. Qualifications Preferred Experience working with local clients at the county and state level. Experience with multiple project delivery methods (i.e., Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3). * Experience managing multidiscipline project teams. Working Conditions Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc., within the office environment. Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat, cold, wet, humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting up to 25 lbs may be required as needed.
