Position overview

SkyBridge Tactical is seeking an experienced weapons specialist for an anticipated contract supporting military training exercises in Southern California. The Weapons Expert supports the role player team on the safe handling and realistic use of training weapons, so scenarios are both authentic and safe.

Responsibilities

• Advise and support role players on the safe handling and realistic use of training weapons, including AK-pattern rifles, blank-fire, marking cartridge, and paintball-type systems.
• Assist with weapons checks, function checks, and minor maintenance of contractor equipment during exercises.
• Support the Lead Role Player with accountability of government-issued weapons, blanks, and marking ammunition.
• Reinforce weapons safety throughout scenarios and follow all range safety and Training Time Out procedures.
• Report weapons malfunctions, safety concerns, and lessons learned for after-action reviews.

Required qualifications

• Extensive military or law enforcement weapons background.
• Expert knowledge of weapons safety and handling across a range of small arms and training weapon systems.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a background check and high-risk training suitability screening.

Physical and safety requirements

Physically fit, with no limitations or medical conditions that would prevent work in austere outdoor environments and during hours of darkness. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.

Preferred experience

Armorer certification, range safety officer experience, weapons instructor experience, and experience supporting military training.

Work schedule and travel

Work is intermittent and scheduled around training events, which typically run several consecutive days. Training days can last up to 12 hours and often run from afternoon into the early morning, including nights and weekends. Schedules may shift by up to two days due to weather or other delays. You will travel to training sites throughout Southern California, and some remote sites involve group lodging.

Anticipated start date: Contingent upon contract award, anticipated in late October 2026, with initial training events expected shortly after.

Employment is subject to contract award, customer approval, background verification, required suitability screening, and satisfaction of all position requirements.
