OVERVIEW

Join our newly formed, creative, and collaborative Communications Division, where youll play a key role in reimagining Kitsap Countys digital presence. As this is a brand-new position, were looking for someone eager to build, experiment, and jump right in. As the Web and Digital Technology Specialist, you will help ensure the Countys website is accurate, accessible, and easy for both residents and staff to use. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with customer service and who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where precision and problem-solving truly matter.

What Youll Do

  • Provide administrative and technical support for the County website, ensuring content is timely, accurate, and aligned with established guidelines.
  • Develop, update, and maintain web pages using the Countys Content Management System (CMS).
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the CMS, supporting non-technical staff and helping them successfully publish digital content.
  • Use a wide range of technologies, including web editing software, multimedia tools, and enterprise applications.
  • Collaborate closely with internal customers, Information Services, and the Digital Communications Supervisor to deliver high-quality digital experiences.
  • Apply consistent branding, design standards, and usability practices across web platforms.
  • Troubleshoot website functionality issues and help improve overall website performance.
  • Support outreach and public engagement efforts by aligning web content with social media and educational messaging.

What Youll Bring

(Minimum Qualifications)

  • Associates Degree in a related field and two years of progressive experience in website design, development, and management, OR
  • Four years of progressive experience in website design, development, and management.

Other preferred experience:

  • Experience acting as a liaison between internal customers and Information Services, with a strong commitment to customer service.
  • Proficiency in web content management and front-end technologies, including HTML and WordPress.
  • Experience with branding, visual consistency, and content management across digital platforms.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve website functionality and performance issues.
  • Familiarity with social media tools used for outreach, education, and public communication.
  • Experience using front-end development tools that support layout, design, and user experience.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and independent-judgment skills.

11 paid holidays and 2 additional floating holiday per year. One additional floating holiday after 10 years of service.

Vacation Leave

New employees are credited with 48 hours of annual leave upon hire and will be begin accruing at the rate of 8 hours per month starting on their 7th month of employment. Employees may carry over 360 hours from one calendar year to the next. Annual leave accrual will increase upon tenure, as follows:

Upon completion of 2 years: 15 days per year (10.00 hours per month)

Upon completion of 5 years: 20 days per year (13.33 hours per month)

Upon completion of 10 years: 25 days per year (16.67 hours per month)

Sick Leave

All new hires will be credited with 48 hours of sick leave upon hire and will begin accruing at the rate of 8 hours per month starting on their 7th month of employment. Employees may carry over 1200 hours from one calendar year to the next.
