Compensation: $30–$35 per hour
Commitment Level: Part-time, weekends — long-term
Guaranteed Hours: 16 hours per week
Schedule: Saturday & Sunday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm
Start Date: ASAP

Position Overview

An Arlington family is seeking an energetic, engaged Part-Time Weekend Nanny for their 7-year-old son, who has ADHD. This is a dedicated one-on-one role, with the nanny's full focus on him throughout each weekend day.

He is bright, active, and thrives with clear structure, advance notice before transitions, patient redirection, and consistent engagement. Professional experience working with children who have ADHD and/or are neurodivergent is required.

The ideal nanny will be confident supporting a child with different learning and behavioral needs while creating a positive, structured, and fun environment. The family is seeking someone who genuinely enjoys active weekends filled with playgrounds, swimming, museums, crafts, and planned outings. Minimizing screen time and keeping the day engaging and moving are central to the role.

The family is looking for someone who views this as a serious, long-term professional position rather than occasional weekend work.

  • Guaranteed 16 hours per week
  • Guaranteed hours paid when the family travels without the nanny
  • Mileage reimbursement at the current IRS standard rate for work-related driving

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, one-on-one supervision and companionship throughout each weekend shift
  • Support the child's ADHD-related needs through structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement
  • Maintain a predictable routine and provide advance notice before transitions
  • Use patient redirection and positive behavioral support strategies
  • Plan and lead active, age-appropriate activities including crafts, outdoor play, and outings
  • Drive the child to activities, lessons, and destinations such as playgrounds, museums, and swim lessons
  • Remain present and engaged during scheduled activities and lessons
  • Provide close, supervision during swimming, in-water as necessary
  • Prioritize active engagement and minimize screen time
  • Prepare simple meals and snacks
  • Tidy up after the child's activities and meals
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with parents about the child's day

Requirements

  • Required: Professional experience working with children who have ADHD and/or are neurodivergent
  • Experience supporting school-age children who benefit from structure, routine, and consistent guidance
  • Demonstrated ability to use patient, positive redirection and behavioral support strategies
  • Energetic, active, patient, and comfortable spending full days out of the house
  • Strong understanding of how to support a neurodivergent child's individual needs
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle
  • Confident, comfortable swimmer able to supervise the child in the water
  • Reliable weekend availability on a consistent, long-term basis; one-year minimum commitment
