For 80 years, we have been one of upstate New York’s largest providers of programs and services for individuals who have disabilities. Many of the innovative programs and vital services that we offer are not available elsewhere.

We are searching for Weekend Warrior Resident Counselors (Float) to support our Residential Programs at an enhanced compensation rate.

This position is responsible for assisting, providing and promoting independence in residential individuals’ daily treatment, care and services. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for assisting in the implementation of all elements of staff action plans and completing associated documentation
  • Promoting independence, community inclusion, individualization and productivity while respecting the persons supported personal choice, lifestyles and their dignity to take informed risks are critical functions of the job
  • Must be flexible to work at any residential location as program and staffing needs change on a day to day basis

Requirements:

  • Traveling to programs in the Capital Region area is required
  • Weekend Coverage -
  • Must be have specialized training - First Aid, CPR, SCIP-R, OPWDD Medication Administration Certification, and CFDS Authorized Driver within the 90 days of employment. Must complete additional program specific training requirements during first six months of employment.  Employee must maintain certifications continuously to remain in this position
  • NYS Driver's License required
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of job related experience preferred, specifically in working with individuals with developmental disabilities or working in nursing home or home care settings

For over 75 years, the Center for Disability Services has been one of upstate New York’s largest providers of programs and services for individuals who have disabilities.

With more than 80 locations throughout 15 counties, we annually provide programs and services to over 12,000 individuals, ranging from infants to senior citizens, and their families. We provide services for over 300 different diagnoses of disabilities included Cerebral Palsy, developmental disabilities, Multiple Sclerosis, Autism Spectrum disorders, epilepsy, spina bifida, TBI and Down syndrome.

Our wide range of services under a single umbrella allows us to provide a seamless continuum of care as the people we support age or as their needs change. From intensive medical care to residential services, to dental care to mental health, the individuals we support can have it all managed through the Center.
