Job Title Welcome Team Leader Fall 2026 Department Advisement and Transition Job Description/Duties

Welcome Team Leaders will assist new students in transitioning to SUNY Cortland. Specific responsibilities include:

• Facilitating small group discussions about transitional concerns and academic expectations for the spring semester
• Encouraging new students to form connections
• Leading classroom finding tours
• Assisting with events and traffic flow during Welcome Week

Days/Hours Needed

August 24-31; various hours throughout those days for a total of up to 15 hours

Campus Location/Bldg.

Events are conducted throughout campus

Required Qualifications

• Current SUNY Cortland undergraduate student who will be attending Cortland in Fall 2026 semester
• In good academic standing (at least a 2.0 GPA)
• Previous experience as an Orientation Assistant
• In good standing with Student Conduct
• Ability to maintain a positive and flexible attitude
• Desire to work with students, faculty and staff

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum GPA of a 2.5
• Evidence of academic excellence and co-curricular involvement

Physical Demands

Will be moving and directing students throughout campus
