Position Summary
Kimco Staffing is seeking experienced Welders and Fabrication Technicians to support a short term manufacturing surge. This position is ideal for candidates with strong fabrication and welding experience who can work independently in a fast paced environment while partnering with engineering to build and improve tooling.
The ideal candidate has experience fabricating steel components, performing Flux Core welding, reading fabrication drawings, and using a variety of metal fabrication equipment.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and weld tooling to support new tooling development and production needs.
- Perform Flux Core welding on steel components.
- Fit, form, prepare, and clean materials prior to welding.
- Inspect fabricated parts to verify dimensional accuracy and weld quality.
- Identify weld defects and perform repairs as needed.
- Recommend process improvements to increase weld quality and fabrication efficiency.
- Collaborate with Engineering to troubleshoot tooling issues and improve designs.
- Set up and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
- Set up and utilize jig tables for accurate fabrication.
- Operate fabrication equipment including vertical band saws and sanding equipment.
- Handle raw materials and finished weldments using proper material handling practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of welding and metal fabrication experience.
- Proficient with Flux Core (FCAW) welding on steel.
- Strong blueprint and fabrication drawing interpretation skills.
- Experience with tooling fabrication and fixture construction preferred.
- Ability to inspect welds for quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Experience using vertical band saws, grinders, sanders, and other fabrication equipment.
- Ability to safely lift materials and work with steel components.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet aggressive production schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting engineering or prototype tooling development.
- Experience working in aerospace, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
- Knowledge of welding quality standards and inspection method
- This role is subject to ITAR requirements.
- Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or otherwise eligible for required authorizations under U.S. export regulations.
