Job Title:  Junior Welder / Fabricator

Location: Bellingham

Reports to:  Senior Welder / Manufacturing Coordinator - Shop Foreman

Job Summary:

To perform welding operations required of fabricated and/or machined components.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Ø  Is fully capable in all areas of a Welder/Fabricator.

Ø  Visually checks own work and is able to inspect own work before and after first article inspection.

Ø  Working knowledge in the implementation of the company’s QMS. Working to procedures, flow charts, work instructions, and commitment to continuous  improvement.

Ø  Consistently produces work of accepted quality within budget

Ø  Exercises proper care and maintenance of hand tools and power equipment.

Ø  Qualify or be capable of qualifying to welding practices of Hi-Tech Metals quality standards.

Ø  Works from general instruction of supervisor who gives verbal instructions and/or welding fixtures for a particular process.

Ø  Knowledge of basic fabrication and set-up skills.

Ø  To uphold the Quality Policy of Algonquin/Hi-Tech and work towards corporate goals.

Ø  Responsible for weld tractability and all pertinent records.

Ø  Use of general floor tools for layouts and final dimensions.

Ø  Always comply with safety standards in the work place.

Ø  Ensure production cycles/efficiencies are met or exceeded

Ø  Ensure the company's QMS abides to customer, internal, ISO 9001, regulatory/legal requirements

Ø  Abide by the OSHA regulations and standards.

Related Experience and Education:

  3 to 5 years experience, certifications a plus

Other Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Ø  Excellent communication skills (written and oral), exceptional math and organizational skills.   Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills a must.

Ø  Must have the ability to work in a fast paced, team based environment. 

Ø  Strong computer skills including Word and Excel required. 

Ø  Have experience in blue print reading and use of machine shop measuring equipment

Ø  Ensure all components meet specifications using appropriate tools for verification

Ø  Possess strong communication and interpersonal skill with attention to detail

Ø  Good work ethic and flexibility to work any shift a must

Ø  Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadline

Ø  Be capable to train new welders.
