Job Title: Welder
Job Description
This role focuses on manufacturing a variety of steel products for commercial and industrial construction projects. You will perform MIG welding on structural steel beams, fabricate and assemble parts, operate material-handling equipment, and ensure the quality and accuracy of all finished products through careful inspection and adherence to blueprints and schematics.
Responsibilities
  • Perform MIG welding on structural steel beams with thicknesses ranging from 1 to 2 inches on various types of materials.
  • Fabricate parts and assemble steel beams according to project specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and measuring tapes to complete accurate welds and assemblies.
  • Operate overhead cranes as needed to move and position heavy steel components safely.
  • Use hand tools and grinders to clean, smooth, and finish welds to required standards.
  • Operate forklifts to transport materials, components, and finished products within the facility and yard.
  • Conduct visual inspections of all products to verify weld quality, alignment, and adherence to specifications.
  • Perform general labor and production tasks in support of the manufacturing process.
  • Assist with paint preparation and related production activities as required.
  • Work in the yard and production areas, including outdoor tasks, to support material handling and fabrication operations.
  • Lift and handle materials weighing up to 70 lbs as needed throughout the shift.
Essential Skills
  • At least 5 years of MIG welding experience.
  • At least 1 year of structural steel welding experience within those 5 years.
  • Proficiency in reading and using blueprints, schematics, and measuring tapes.
  • Ability to perform MIG welding on structural steel beams with thicknesses of 1 to 2 inches.
  • Experience with overhead crane operation for moving and positioning steel components.
  • Ability to operate forklifts safely in a production or yard environment.
  • Skilled in using hand tools and grinders for weld finishing and preparation.
  • Capability to conduct thorough visual inspections of welds and finished products.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs safely and repeatedly as required by the job.
  • Comfort working in a production and outdoor environment, including varying weather conditions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in general labor and production work within a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
  • Experience with yard work and outdoor material handling.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and assemblies.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and use equipment and tools responsibly.
  • Reliable work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment
You will work primarily in a production and yard setting that includes both indoor and outdoor areas. When in the paint area, you will be in the production bay where large doors frequently open and close to the outside. The majority of the time you will work outdoors, so you should dress appropriately for changing weather conditions. Steel-toe footwear and long pants are required, and a long-sleeve shirt is recommended for added protection. The environment involves active material handling, use of overhead cranes and forklifts, and regular interaction with heavy steel components, requiring consistent attention to safety and proper use of personal protective equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Billings, MT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00/hr.
