Advancement Opportunity
Employees who demonstrate the required welding skills and competencies may become eligible to take the API 1104 Welding Certification test. Testing eligibility may be considered as early as 90 days, based on performance and demonstrated proficiency. Welders who successfully earn their API 1104 certification may be eligible to earn up to $28.00 per hour.
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Welder to join our manufacturing team. This is a direct hire opportunity on first shift. The Welder is responsible for safely setting up and operating welding equipment to produce high-quality parts that meet customer specifications and production schedules. Experience with steel assembly and CNC operations is a plus.
Essential Responsibilities
- Set up and operate welding machines, equipment, and fixtures safely and efficiently.
- Adjust welding equipment to ensure quality welds that meet production standards.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
- Perform routine maintenance and daily housekeeping to keep equipment and work areas clean and operational.
- Conduct minor maintenance and troubleshooting on welding equipment and fixtures.
- Request materials and supplies needed to support welding operations.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and team leads.
- Maintain compliance with all company safety policies and quality management procedures.
- Train and assist less experienced employees in welding processes as needed.
- Assist with steel assembly and CNC operations when required.
- Work overtime, including weekends, as necessary to meet production demands.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of welding experience, or at least six (6) months of experience at the Welding C level.
- General knowledge of welding equipment, welding techniques, and fabrication processes.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet production deadlines.
- Knowledge of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmets, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Stand at a workstation for up to two hours at a time.
- Frequently use hands and arms to reach, grasp, lift, and manipulate materials.
- Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Work in a manufacturing environment where temperatures may reach 100°F and conditions may reflect seasonal outdoor temperatures.
- Wear required PPE, including welding hood, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and other protective equipment.
- Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
