General Summary

The welder is responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools.

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Perform welding operations on pipe, vessels, structural skids and other equipment.
  
• Ability to weld both CS and SS piping.
  
• Layout, cut, fit and otherwise prepare material for welding.
  
• Fabricate material from piping schematics and other drawings, working from blueprints, sketches or verbal instructions.
  
• Operate oxy-acetylene torch to cut, braze, weld and solder.
  
• Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.
  
• Perform quality detailing work, grinding, polishing, etc.
  
• Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns, performing all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  
• Complete all appropriate documentation and paperwork.
  

Education

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
  

Certification

• Valid driver's license
  
• Welding certifications a plus, but not required
  

Work Experience

• Minimum 2 years' experience in pipeline construction and welding procedures
  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Prior experience with drilling, welding casing is a plus.
  
• Experienced in Stick, Wire Feed, TIG
  
• Experience with conceptualizing and designing for fabrication
  
• Forklift certification
  
• Be able to routinely lift heavy equipment up to 75 pounds
  
• Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
  
• Look at flat drawings, pictures, and blueprints and visualize how they would look as solid objects with height, width, and depth
  
• Have good written and verbal communication skills
  
• Be able to promote the safety culture within our company by working within the safety policies established by Granite and our customers.
  
• Be willing to perform a variety of tasks as may be necessary to promote completion of work, including assisting on other projects as necessary.
