Welder/Fabricator
Welder/Fabricator needed for a shop-based fabrication and repair operation supporting heavy equipment production and maintenance work. This role focuses on layout, welding, and repair of pipe, structural plate, and tubular components built to spec and blueprint. The shop supports equipment used across commercial and government-affiliated job sites, giving the right candidate steady, varied production work. Assignments are project-based and may continue based on performance and contract demand, with the potential for long-term placement or permanent hire with select clients.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lay out weld joints and fabrication sequences from blueprints, diagrams, and work orders for pipe, structural plate, and tubular components
- Weld, install, test, and repair pipe and structural assemblies to specification using appropriate methods for the base material
- Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble, and fit metal components prior to welding
- Troubleshoot fabrication and repair issues and adjust methods to meet spec
- Perform quality checks on completed welds against blueprint and code requirements
- Work alongside other trades as directed by supervision on multi-step fabrication or repair jobs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout each job
Requirements
- 3-5 years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience
- Ability to produce high-quality welds in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and similar alloys
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, diagrams, and work orders
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Reliable transportation to the shop location
- Must be able to pass a background check, as work may occasionally require access to secured or government-affiliated sites
- Ability to work with minimal supervision once assigned a task
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience fabricating or repairing heavy equipment or crane components
- OSHA 10 certification
- Rigging or basic crane operation familiarity
- Experience with CNC or plasma cutting equipment
Additional Information
Duties include occasional time in an adjoining equipment yard in addition to shop work. Physical demands include standing, bending, lifting, and working from ladders or platforms for extended periods. Exposure to dust, fumes, noise, and industrial conditions is expected; respiratory protection may be required based on task or location. Steel-toed boots and PPE are required in accordance with site safety policies. Work schedules may include overtime based on workload.
