    Welder Fitter

    Department: Production Welding
     Reports To: Lead Hand / Operations Manager
     Employment Type: Full-Time
    Job Summary:
    We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder/Fitter to join our team. This role involves fabricating and assembling metal components using various welding techniques and fitting skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, experience with blueprint reading, and proficiency with a range of tools and machinery. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for manufacturing, construction, and metalwork to contribute to high-quality projects in a dynamic environment.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions
    • Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, and other measuring instruments to ensure precision in fabrication
    • Operate plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to shape materials
    • Rigging and positioning materials or equipment using cranes or forklifts as needed
    • Assemble fabricated parts into final products or structures following safety standards and specifications
    • Conduct quality inspections using calipers and other measurement tools to verify dimensions and tolerances
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols related to welding, machining, and construction activities
    • Assist in troubleshooting fabrication issues and recommend improvements for efficiency and safety

    General Shop Duties
    • Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area
    • Perform routine maintenance on tools







    Safety
    • Follow all workplace safety rules and procedures
    • Always Use appropriate PPE (steel-toe boots, welding helmet, gloves, etc.)
    • Report any hazards, incidents, or near misses to the supervisor
    • Comply with all company safety policies and government regulations (e.g., OHSA in Ontario)
    Qualifications:
    • Proven experience in welding within a manufacturing or construction setting
    • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions
    • Familiarity with rigging, crane operation, forklift handling, and basic machining processes
    • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, calipers, plasma cutting equipment, press brake machines, and welding equipment
    • Knowledge of assembly processes, schematics interpretation, and construction practices is a plus
    • Ability to perform basic math calculations relevant to fabrication tasks
    • Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work safely around industrial equipment while maintaining high-quality standards
    • Physical capability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods during shifts
    Work Environment:
    • Industrial shop environment with moderate to high noise levels.
    • Exposure to hot surfaces, sharp edges, and metal debris.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or bend for periods during assembly tasks
    • Required use of CSA-approved personal protective equipment (PPE):
      • Safety boots
      • Gloves
      • Safety glasses
      • Hearing protection
