Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency in supporting Welders through all stages of the operation is essential.
  • Proficiency in setting up oxygen-acetylene regulators for examinations administered by the Supervisor of Welding is essential.
  • Applicant must hold a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the required endorsement (hazmat) and meet all physical requirements suitable for the type of vehicle they operate.
  • Applicants should either hold qualifications in accordance with the NORAC Book of Rules and Timetable Instructions for the transportation department or demonstrate the ability to pass the required exam.
  • Candidates should possess the capability to diligently fill out all necessary field documentation and perform any additional assigned tasks.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending the English Language is a prerequisite.
  • Must be a Roadway Worker qualified Gang-Watchman.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate extreme attention to detail and full understanding of all safety codes and procedures.
  • Work outdoors in all type of weather conditions, including confined spaces at various heights.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Possess physical ability to use various types of hand and power tools.
  • Possess exceptional problem solving and team leadership skills.
  • Provide a valid Driver's License and High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successfully pass the pre-screening process which includes a physical and drug test, employment verification, criminal history, and driving background checks.

Physical Requirements:

  • Qualified applicants must have the ability to: stoop, bend, crawl, balance, climb and kneel.
  • Wear protective equipment such as hardhat, safety glasses, and safety-toe boots.
  • Perform heavy lifting and carrying tasks with the weight of up to (50) fifty pounds.

Work Location:

  • Various - must be willing and able to travel to any of our NJ Transit locations as required.
