Job Title: Welder II (1st & 2nd Shifts Available)
Location: Lafayette, IN 47905 (Active metal fabrication plant; ~20–30 minutes outside central Lafayette near Delphi)
Pay Rate: $23.00 – $33.00/hr (3 Openings Total: 2 for Shift 1, 1 for Shift 2)
Duration: 6-Month Contingent with potential for permanent conversion
Schedule:
Shift 1: Monday – Thursday 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (~49 hours/week; Mandatory 6-hour overtime shifts every other Saturday from 5:00 AM – 11:00 AM)
Shift 2: Standard 2nd shift hours as assigned (~40+ hours/week)
Overview
The Welder II builds and fabricates cryogenic industrial gas trailers and mechanical sub-assemblies following the I-P-W-C-I workflow (Identify, Prepare, Weld, Clean, Inspect). Operating in an active metal fabrication plant, this role requires preparing and fitting materials, executing precision manual and semi-automatic welds across multiple positions within WPS parameters, and ensuring all finished welds strictly meet ASME engineering standards.

Job Specifications
- Prepare and fit metals using angle grinders, clamps, tape measures, saws, squares, and calipers
- Set up components and perform manual/semi-automatic welds (GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, FCAW) in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
- Read and interpret technical blueprints, engineering drawings, and weld callouts to plan layouts and procedures
- Clean and inspect completed welds to verify compliance with engineering callouts and ASME quality standards
- Adhere strictly to plant safety guidelines, utilizing required PPE (welding helmet/face shield, gloves, safety boots)
- Minimum 5 to 8 years of proven welding and fabrication experience required (Welder II classification)
- Demonstrated proficiency with various welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, FCAW) and shop tools required
- Strong knowledge of metal properties, WPS parameters, and ASME specifications required
- Must successfully pass an on-site practical welding test prior to selection
