Role Overview:

As a Welder at UIG, you will be a vital part of our construction team specializing in fabricating and assembling metal structures and products. This position requires expertise in using welders, cutters, and shapers to create high-quality metal components. The Welder must be certified in Flux Core welding for flat, vertical, and overhead positions and possess the skills to work from blueprints, job orders, and verbal instructions to fabricate and assemble overhead bridge cranes. A strong understanding of trigonometry, material properties, and fabrication techniques is essential.

Typical Duties:

• Follow safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment. • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and products such as overhead bridge cranes according to job orders, blueprints, and verbal instructions. • Develop layout and plan the sequence of operations, applying knowledge of trigonometry, stock allowances for material thickness, machine, and welding shrinkage, and the physical properties of metals. • Set up and operate fabricating machines, including welders, punches, flame cutters, and drill presses. • Ensure machines are properly maintained and in good working condition. • Perform quality checks throughout the fabrication and assembly process to ensure high standards are met.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

• Able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead. • Ability to work in confined spaces. • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work. • Able to see details at close range. • Able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. • Able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.

REQUIREMENTS:

ALL Applicants must be:

• 18 years of age • Able to pass a Drug Test • Legally eligible to work in the US • Open to working different shifts if needed by the project • Must have reliable transportation to and from jobsite every workday (drivers license preferred) • Willingness to travel for project requirements, including multi-state opportunities
