Position Overview

Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Welder for a manufacturing and fabrication opportunity in Tulsa. This position performs MIG and Metal Core welding on fabricated metal components while working from blueprints, weld symbols, measurements, and production specifications.

The ideal candidate has previous MIG welding experience, strong blueprint and tape-measure skills, and the ability to consistently produce quality welds while meeting established production standards.

This position is located in a climate-controlled weld shop, providing a more comfortable year-round working environment than a traditional fabrication facility.

Required Experience & Skills

• Previous MIG welding experience required
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication blueprints
• Ability to understand weld symbols
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure
• Strong understanding of basic welding and fabrication processes

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on fabricated metal components
• Perform Metal Core welding according to experience and production requirements
• Read and interpret fabrication blueprints
• Follow applicable weld symbols
• Review work instructions before beginning production
• Measure materials and components using a tape measure
• Position components for welding
• Complete welding according to applicable specifications
• Maintain consistent weld quality throughout production
• Inspect completed work for visible defects
• Identify welding or fabrication concerns
• Correct weld defects when required
• Maintain established production standards
• Operate welding and fabrication equipment safely
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Follow all company safety and quality procedures
• Perform additional welding and fabrication duties as assigned

MIG & Metal Core Welding

Candidates may regularly perform:

• MIG welding
• Metal Core welding
• Tack welding
• Production welding
• Fabrication welding
• Component fit-up as required
• Weld preparation and cleanup
• Finished weld inspection

Previous Metal Core experience is preferred, although strong MIG Welders with the appropriate fabrication background may also be considered.

Blueprint & Weld Symbol Responsibilities

Candidates should be able to:

• Read fabrication blueprints
• Interpret basic weld symbols
• Identify component locations and orientation
• Follow applicable welding specifications
• Determine required dimensions
• Verify materials before welding
• Compare completed work against applicable drawings
• Identify discrepancies before components continue through production

Measurement Requirements

Strong tape-measure skills are important for this position.

Candidates should be able to:

• Accurately read a shop tape measure
• Verify component dimensions
• Measure materials before fabrication
• Check positioning and spacing
• Confirm finished assemblies meet applicable measurements
• Identify obvious dimensional discrepancies

Quality Responsibilities

• Maintain consistent weld quality
• Inspect completed welds for visible defects
• Verify workmanship meets production requirements
• Identify welds requiring correction
• Complete repairs when required
• Maintain attention to quality throughout repetitive production runs
• Balance production speed with accurate, consistent workmanship
• Help prevent nonconforming components from continuing through production

Preferred Qualifications

• Metal Core welding experience
• Advanced MIG welding experience
• Manufacturing welding experience
• Metal fabrication experience
• Blueprint-reading experience
• Weld symbol knowledge
• Strong tape-measure skills
• Production welding experience
• Previous experience working in a high-volume fabrication environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
• Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying, positioning, pushing, and pulling
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for welding
• Ability to safely handle fabricated metal components
• Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment
• Comfortable performing repetitive production welding throughout extended shifts
• Ability to safely wear all required PPE

Work Environment

• Climate-controlled welding and fabrication shop
• Regular work around welding equipment, fabricated metal components, tools, and production machinery
• Hands-on production environment requiring consistent welding quality and productivity
• Stable Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 4:45 PM schedule
