Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Tank Cleaning Welder to join our industrial maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, cleaning, and repairing industrial storage tanks, vessels, and pipelines. This dual-role requires expertise in welding (SMAW, FCAW, MIG) as well as the specialized procedures required to clean, purge, and safely enter confined spaces.
Key Responsibilities
Tank Cleaning & Hazardous Prep
- Operate specialized cleaning equipment-including industrial pressure washers, vacuum trucks, and pumps-to remove hazardous waste, sludge, rust, and residue.
- Perform atmospheric testing using gas detection equipment to ensure confined spaces are safe for entry.
- Follow strict confined space entry and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Prepare and purge tanks (degassing/steaming) prior to performing any hot work or welding operations.
Welding, Fitting, & Fabrication
- Execute precision welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core) to repair leaks, patch structural holes, and assemble metal components.
- Operate thermal cutters and grinding tools to prepare metal surfaces and remove defective welds.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding symbols to accurately align and fit components.
- Perform post-weld cleanup and inspection to ensure all work meets structural integrity and non-destructive testing (NDT/X-ray) standards.
