The Welder/Fabricator will be responsible for performing high-quality welding and fabrication work on various types of heavy equipment and machinery, including paving equipment, dump trucks, and other construction vehicles. This is a shop-based position that requires expert knowledge in welding metal and aluminum, along with strong fabrication skills and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities:
- Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on steel and aluminum components
- Fabricate, modify, and repair parts, frames, and structural components on heavy equipment and paving machinery
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Use cutting torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and other fabrication tools safely and efficiently
- Collaborate with mechanics and equipment operators to identify structural issues and recommend solutions
- Ensure all welds meet strength and quality standards
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures as outlined by company and OSHA standards
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in welding and fabrication, specifically with metal and aluminum
- Extensive experience working on heavy construction equipment and paving equipment
- Proficient in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques
- Skilled in cutting, grinding, bending, and fitting materials
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings and schematics
- Must be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and self-motivated
- Welding certifications a plus but not required
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred
Pay: $25-28/hr plus full benefits
