We are seeking an experienced Welder/Torch Operator to support our heavy-equipment repair and fabrication operations. This position is responsible for operating CNC plasma or oxy-fuel cutting equipment, preparing and fitting metal components, and performing quality welds according to blueprints and job specifications.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, understand metal fabrication processes, and take pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC plasma and/or oxy-fuel torch-cutting equipment
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, weld symbols, work orders, and CAD files
Select the proper materials, machine settings, and cutting requirements for each job
Measure, cut, fit, align, and clamp metal components according to specifications
Perform MIG, Stick, and other required welding processes
Inspect cut parts, fittings, and completed welds for accuracy, quality, and dimensional tolerances
Monitor the cutting process and make adjustments when necessary
Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot basic equipment issues
Operate cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment safely
Maintain raw-material and cutting-supply inventory
Keep the work area clean, safe, and organized
Work with supervisors, welders, and other team members to complete projects on schedule
Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
Requirements
At least two years of experience in welding, fitting, CNC torch operation, or a related metal-fabrication position
Experience operating CNC plasma or oxy-fuel cutting equipment
Proficiency in MIG and Stick welding; TIG welding experience is a plus
Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and weld symbols
Knowledge of fitting techniques, metal types, and material thicknesses
Basic understanding of CNC machine controls and programming
Ability to use measuring tools accurately
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to troubleshoot basic cutting and fabrication problems
Ability to lift and move heavy materials and stand for extended periods
Ability to work safely in a physically demanding industrial environment
AWS welding certification
Experience working with carbon steel and structural metals
Experience in heavy-equipment, mining, repair, or fabrication operations
Forklift and overhead-crane certification
