Position Overview
The Combination Welder is responsible for welding pressure vessels and structural steel components by assembling and repairing metal parts using various welding processes. This role requires experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and nickel materials while following standard welding procedures and industry specifications. Candidates should be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and producing high-quality welds that meet strict inspection standards.
Responsibilities
Weld pressure vessels and structural steel products using MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux Cored Arc, and plasma welding processes.
Perform welding in accordance with applicable ASME and TEMA specifications.
Produce welds that successfully pass X-ray, die penetrant, and visual inspections.
Read and interpret blueprints, weld specifications, and engineering drawings prior to fabrication.
Measure, cut, and prepare materials to required specifications.
Review and implement engineering change orders (ECOs).
Use quality assurance tools and measuring instruments to ensure compliance with tolerances and specifications.
Inspect completed work to verify quality standards are met.
Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and standardized manufacturing processes.
Maintain welding equipment and work areas in accordance with 5S standards.
Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to ensure project timelines are achieved.
Vocational school or technical training required; welding certification preferred. Ability to pass ASME coupon tests and obtain ASME Certified Combination Welder credentials.
Minimum of 3 years of MIG, TIG, and stick welding experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and hands-on experience.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, use quality assurance instruments, and work with hand and power tools while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
Strong communication and mechanical aptitude with the flexibility to adapt to changing responsibilities, work overtime as needed, and lift up to 50 lbs.
