Job Title: Welder

Job Description

Join a high-volume manufacturing environment as a Welder, where you will perform MIG, Flux-Cored, and Stick welding on structural steel components and counterweights. You will interpret blueprints and weld symbols, set up and operate welding equipment, and ensure welds meet strict quality and dimensional standards while following all safety procedures.


Responsibilities


+ Perform welding on structural steel components and counterweights using appropriate welding processes such as MIG, Flux-Cored, and Stick welding.

+ Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, drawings, and work instructions to determine weld specifications and requirements.

+ Set up and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

+ Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, cutting, and positioning components to ensure proper fit-up.

+ Inspect welds to verify conformance with quality, dimensional, and alignment standards.

+ Use measuring tools and gauges, such as tape measures, to confirm accuracy and alignment of welded components.

+ Identify weld defects and perform necessary repairs or adjustments to maintain quality standards.

+ Maintain consistent weld quality and productivity to meet production targets and schedules.

+ Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with standard housekeeping practices.

+ Assist with material handling using appropriate equipment such as hoists, cranes, or forklifts when certified.

+ Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to resolve production issues and support workflow.

+ Monitor equipment condition and promptly report maintenance needs or safety concerns.

+ Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance quality, efficiency, and workplace safety.

+ Perform additional welding and fabrication duties as assigned to support production needs.


Essential Skills


+ 1–2 years of experience in welding, structural steel fabrication, or a similar industrial environment.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings.

+ Proficiency with common welding processes, including MIG, Flux-Cored, and Stick welding.

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and finished components.

+ Ability to safely operate welding equipment and consistently follow safety procedures.

+ Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

+ Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and meet production targets.

+ Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50–70 lbs) as required by the job.

+ Ability to stand, bend, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.

+ Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat and noise.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Certification such as AWS or equivalent is a plus.

+ Experience welding large structural components or heavy steel assemblies.

+ Familiarity with fabrication equipment, including cutting torches and grinders.

+ Experience working with overhead cranes or other material handling equipment.

+ Knowledge of weld inspection standards and procedures.

+ Previous experience in a high-volume production setting.

+ Experience working with stainless steel, sheet metal, and mild steel.

+ Ability to perform TIG welding and MIG welding on various materials.

+ Strong blueprint reading skills and ability to use tape measures and other measuring tools accurately.

Work Environment


This role is based in Youngstown, OH within a manufacturing plant environment. The position offers multiple shifts: 1st shift from 6:30am to 2:30pm, 2nd shift from 2:30pm to 10:30pm, and 3rd shift from 10:30pm to 6:30am, with the third shift starting on Sunday night. Overtime is available and initially voluntary. You will work around welding equipment, structural steel components, and fabrication tools such as cutting torches and grinders, as well as material handling equipment including hoists, cranes, and forklifts (for certified operators). The facility can involve exposure to heat, noise, and other typical industrial conditions, and the work is physically demanding, requiring frequent standing, bending, and lifting. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, and a clean, organized work area is maintained according to standard housekeeping and safety practices.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00/hr.
