The Welder is responsible for performing welding and fabrication operations on structural steel, fabricated components, and assemblies in accordance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable welding codes. This position utilizes various welding processes, including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick) and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), and may perform additional welding processes as required. Welders are expected to produce high-quality work while maintaining safety, productivity, and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform welding on structural steel, fabricated components, and assemblies using approved welding procedures.
Utilize welding processes including SMAW (Stick), FCAW (Flux Core), and other welding methods as required.
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication specifications.
Measure, calculate, and verify dimensions to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
Complete welds in accordance with applicable quality standards, including AWS D1.1 requirements when applicable.
Inspect completed welds for quality, penetration, appearance, and compliance with specifications.
Operate welding equipment, grinders, cutting tools, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
Maintain welding equipment, consumables, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
Work collaboratively with supervisors, fitters, fabricators, and production personnel to meet production schedules and quality expectations.
Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and required PPE guidelines.
Maintain productivity and quality standards throughout assigned shifts.
Qualifications
Previous welding experience in manufacturing, fabrication, structural steel, or related environments preferred.
Experience with SMAW (Stick Welding), FCAW (Flux Core Welding), or other applicable welding processes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
Knowledge of welding procedures, fabrication practices, and quality standards.
AWS D1.1 certification preferred but not required.
Ability to pass welding qualification tests as required for assigned work.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach for extended periods.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in hot, noisy, dusty, and industrial manufacturing environments.
