Job Description:

Mountain Gateway Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of 23 community colleges in Virginia. The college is supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia; the counties of Alleghany, Bath, Botetourt (northern portion) and Rockbridge; the cities of Buena Vista, Covington, and Lexington; and the town of Clifton Forge. Position: Welding Instructors (Evening Classes)

Locations: Buena Vista, VA - Wilson Center and Clifton Forge, VA - Main Campus

About the Position:

As a Welding Instructor, you will deliver high-quality instruction in our evening classes, providing students with hands-on training and theoretical knowledge in welding techniques, safety protocols, and industry standards. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to mentor students and contribute to workforce development in our community.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging welding curriculum for evening classes
  • Ensure a safe learning environment adhering to safety regulations
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Maintain equipment and ensure proper safety protocols are followed
  • Collaborate with program staff to enhance course offerings

Minimum Qualifications:

Proven experience in welding, fabrication, or related trades

Certification or credentials in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Inspector or equivalent) preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Commitment to student success and safety

Additional Considerations:

  • Prior teaching experience
  • Associate Degree
