Welding Engineer

Role Summary

The Weld Engineer will provide technical welding expertise to all applicable areas of the manufacturing plant. The Weld Engineer is responsible for the evaluation and recommendations associated with new and existing programs as it relates to weld assembly processing, tooling, and equipment.  The Welding Engineer will develop, implement, and maintain weld parameters for new and existing equipment, weld schedules, test procedures in coordination with Ultrasound/Weld Destruct processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical welding expertise to support existing and new customer programs.
• Lead all root cause investigations into weld related defects 
• Develop and implement documents and procedures for validation of welding equipment and processes to meet or exceed customer specifications and provide guidance and input for the setup and programming of robots for welding best practices.
• Participate in APQP processes relating to the design of weld assembly work cells and tooling. 
• Evaluate processes and equipment and make continuous improvement recommendations in the weld quality and process.
• Develop and implement training programs for skilled trades and assigned personnel in robotic techniques and procedures and in the troubleshooting and repair of robotic welding equipment.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Weld Engineering or equivalent combination of education & work related experience required.
• 2+ years of work related experience in resistance welding robotic welder programming and troubleshooting
