Position Overview

Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable Welding General Laborer for a manufacturing opportunity in Neosho. This is a hands-on, physically active position supporting daily fabrication and production operations while gaining experience with laser welding, metal fabrication, measurement, and shop equipment.

The position combines general shop labor with basic welding responsibilities. Candidates will move and stage materials, assist Welders and Fabricators, perform basic laser welding on sheet metal and ductwork components, use a tape measure, and help prepare metal parts for production.

Previous welding exposure is helpful, but laser welding experience is not required and training can be provided. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, dependable, willing to learn, and comfortable performing physical work throughout the shift.

Required Experience & Skills

• Ability to accurately and consistently read a tape measure
• Some welding exposure or experience preferred
• Laser welding experience is not required
• Manufacturing, construction, warehouse, or industrial experience preferred
• Ability to follow basic work orders and instructions
• Ability to understand simple sketches
• Comfortable performing physically active and repetitive work
• Ability to safely handle metal materials and components
• Strong attention to safety and quality
• Willingness to learn new tools and processes
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work the full Monday–Friday schedule  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform general labor throughout the fabrication shop
• Move and stage metal materials
• Assist Welders and Fabricators with production activities
• Operate a laser welder for basic welding tasks
• Perform basic welds on sheet metal and ductwork components
• Use a tape measure to mark and verify dimensions
• Assist with cutting and basic forming activities
• Prepare metal components according to supervisor instructions
• Load and unload materials and parts
• Move finished products throughout the work area
• Support basic quality inspections
• Verify measurements on completed components
• Inspect parts for obvious damage or quality concerns
• Maintain clean and organized workstations
• Remove scrap and potential hazards from work areas
• Handle tools and equipment safely
• Follow all company safety procedures
• Wear required PPE
• Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately
• Perform additional fabrication and general labor duties as assigned  

Laser Welding

Candidates may perform basic laser welding on:

• Sheet metal
• Ductwork components
• Fabricated metal parts
• Other applicable production components  

Training can be provided for laser welding.

Candidates with previous MIG, TIG, Stick, or other welding experience are encouraged to apply even if they have never operated a laser welder.

Tape Measure & Measurement Requirements

Accurate tape-measure skills are important for this position.

Candidates should be able to:

• Read a standard tape measure
• Mark materials accurately
• Verify basic dimensions
• Check completed parts
• Follow measurements provided by supervisors
• Identify obvious dimensional discrepancies  

Fabrication Shop Support

Candidates may assist with:

• Material staging
• Component preparation
• Cutting
• Basic forming
• Welding support
• Loading and unloading
• Part movement
• Shop cleanup
• Finished-product handling
• General production labor  

This position requires flexibility and a willingness to help wherever production needs are greatest.

Tools & Equipment

Depending on experience and assignment, candidates may work with or around:

• Laser welders
• Grinders
• Drills
• Tape measures
• Squares
• Basic hand tools
• Shears
• Press brakes
• Rollers
• Saws
• Other fabrication equipment  

Candidates must follow all applicable training and safety requirements before operating equipment independently.

Quality Responsibilities

• Verify basic measurements
• Inspect parts for obvious defects
• Check finished components for visible quality concerns
• Follow supervisor instructions and production requirements
• Maintain accuracy during repetitive work
• Communicate incorrect measurements or damaged materials
• Help prevent defective components from advancing through production

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk throughout the entire shift
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
• Ability to move metal materials and components as required
• Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for tools and welding equipment
• Comfortable working around metal, machinery, and active welding operations
• Ability to safely wear all required PPE  

Work Environment

• Industrial metal fabrication and manufacturing environment
• Regular work around Welders, fabrication equipment, sheet metal, ductwork, and machinery
• Physically active position involving general labor, welding, material handling, and production support
• Consistent Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM schedule
• Strong emphasis on safety, measurement accuracy, teamwork, productivity, and dependable attendance
