Job Summary
The Line Lead is responsible for increasing operational efficiency, company profitability and customer satisfaction by setting up and operating a production line from raw material to finished product. This position reports to the Operations Manager.
Summary of Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
- Prepares production equipment for operation by making equipment setup adjustments; assisting with equipment changeovers
- Maintains quality standards and customer specifications by conducting first-piece and in-process inspection; completing production control charts; analyzing recordings and making equipment adjustments
- Helps train others for production job responsibilities by demonstrating operational procedures
- Maintains production line operation by solving production process problems; making equipment adjustments; reporting production and quality data; reporting decisions made; referring questions to the supervisor
- Maintains production operations by following policies and procedures (equipment, raw and in-process materials, and finished goods); reporting needed changes
- Ensures operation of equipment by following preventative maintenance policies and procedures; reporting needed changes and repairs
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed through cooperation with team members and acceptance of re-assignments as directed by supervisors
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Education and/or Experience
- 2+ years experience in a team, line lead or supervisory position within an industrial and/or distribution environment
- 1+ years experience in a metal service center
- High School diploma or GED; or one to 3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, instruct, and guide others
- Superior problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Ability to manage changing priorities and multiple tasks
- Must be reliable and punctual
- Ability to effectively communicate with people
- Ability to read and interpret data and draw valid conclusions
