    Welding/Manufacturing Engineer - Grand Rapids, MI

    DISHER is currently partnering with a precision perforated tubing and welded assemblies manufacturer in Grand Rapids on their need for a Welding/Manufacturing Engineer. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on the production floor and is passionate about optimizing welding operations while developing the next generation of skilled welders. You'll spend 80-85% of your time on the floor working supporting welding, while also taking ownership of process improvement initiatives.

    What you will get to do:

    • Spend 80-85% of your time on the production floor supporting daily operations and troubleshooting welding challenges.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain welding processes for new and existing products.
    • Perform weld trials and process validation activities.
    • Mentor and coach welders, sharing your expertise to help them grow their skills and confidence.
    • Develop and maintain Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) documentation with a focus on thin gauge and aluminum applications.
    • Manage welder qualifications and certifications to ensure compliance and readiness.
    • Design fixtures and optimizations tailored to thin gauge material welding.
    • Lead process improvement initiatives and recommend equipment or method enhancements.

    What will make you successful:

    • Bachelors in Welding Engineering or related field.
    • At least 5 years of experience in a welding or fabrication environment.
    • Demonstrated hands-on welding knowledge and troubleshooting capability.
    • Deep expertise TIG, spot, and projection welding.
    • Comfortable developing, updating, and troubleshooting Weld Procedure Specifications.
    • Desire to coach welders and develop their technical skills.
    • Ability to diagnose root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
    • Experience in continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Ability to collaborate with production, quality, and leadership teams.
    • Must have the current and continuing right to work in the United States of America without restrictions or expirations.
