Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The Part-Time Welding Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in welding technology courses within a community college setting. The instructor will provide hands-on and classroom-based training aligned with industry standards, workforce needs, and college curriculum. This position supports student success through effective teaching, safety enforcement, and engagement with current welding practices, aligned with curriculum standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • 2-4 years of relevant welding industry experience
  • Proficiency in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW
  • Commitment to student-centered teaching.
  • AWS certifications (e.g., CWI, CWE, Certified Welder)

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Associate degree or higher. Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.
  • Teaching or training experience
  • Blackboard Ultra experience

Essential Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Teach assigned welding courses (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, cutting processes, blueprint reading, metallurgy) according to approved curriculum.
  • Deliver both classroom lectures and hands-on lab instruction in a safe and effective manner.
  • Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and demonstrations aligned with course and curriculum outcomes.
  • Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records of grades and attendance.
  • Enforce safety rules and ensure compliance with OSHA and institutional safety policies.
  • Maintain and properly use welding equipment and materials.
  • Provide academic support and feedback to students.
  • Stay current with welding technologies and industry trends.
