Position Overview
The Athletic Trainer will provide daily athletic training services after school while serving as the primary medical resource for Westview Athletics. Responsibilities include injury evaluation, rehabilitation, athletic event coverage, athlete wellness education, and emergency response.
This position offers the opportunity to build relationships with student-athletes while helping them safely return to participation and perform at their highest level.
Primary Responsibilities
Daily Athletic Training Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess athletic injuries.
- Develop and supervise rehabilitation and treatment programs.
- Coordinate return-to-play protocols following injury or illness.
- Provide injury prevention education and wellness support.
- Manage the athletic training room and maintain treatment records.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, coaches, physicians, and healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with school administration and coaching staff regarding athlete care.
- Promote safe participation in all athletic activities.
Athletic Event Responsibilities
- Provide athletic trainer coverage for home athletic contests.
- Provide coverage for tournaments and special athletic events.
- Respond to athletic injuries and medical emergencies.
- Coordinate appropriate care and emergency action plans when necessary.
- Support coaches in maintaining a safe athletic environment.
Work Schedule
Regular Schedule
- 4 hours per day
- Approximately 180 student attendance days
Additional approved hours will be compensated at an established hourly rate and may be available for:
- Evening athletic contests extending beyond 6:30 p.m.
- Weekend athletic events
- Tournaments and special events
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.
- Indiana Athletic Trainer Licensure (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, coaches, healthcare providers, and school personnel.
- Commitment to student safety, wellness, and positive relationships.
