We are looking for a compassionate and dependable Wheelchair Van Driver to join our Patient Transport team. In this role, you will play an important part in the patient experience by safely transporting individuals to and from appointments, procedures, and other hospital locations.
This is more than a driving position—you are a key part of the care team, helping patients feel safe, respected, and supported during every step of their healthcare journey. What You’ll Do
- Safely transport patients to and from the hospital and assigned destinations as directed by Centralized Patient Throughput, Case Management, or Support Services leadership
- Provide safe and comfortable transport of patients within hospital facilities
- Operate wheelchair vans and patient lift equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist patients with care, respect, and professionalism during transport
- Follow all hospital safety policies, driving regulations, and infection control standards on and off the road
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the patient transport system
- Use proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques in all tasks
- Participate in cross-training, onboarding of new team members, and ongoing skill development
- Attend team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of transport services
- Support additional duties as assigned to help meet department and hospital needs
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required (or equivalent experience)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (MVR required)
- Strong commitment to safety and patient care
- Ability to interact respectfully and compassionately with patients of all backgrounds
- Dependability and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn, participate in training, and grow within the role
