Whole Loan Operations & Accounting Analyst

Location: Old Greenwich, CT

Position Overview

We are seeking a Whole Loan Operations & Accounting Analyst to join a growing investment management team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting or finance professional who wants broad exposure to the operational and financial side of residential whole loan investing.

The position will work across a variety of areas, including loan acquisitions and originations, financing, securitizations, portfolio reporting, accounting, valuation support, P&L, and operational controls. The Analyst will also work closely with internal technology resources to improve systems, reporting tools, and workflows supporting the whole loan portfolio.

This is a hands-on, generalist role where responsibilities and exposure will continue to grow as the individual develops experience and expertise.

Responsibilities

• Prepare funding schedules and supporting documentation for loan purchases and originations.
• Review and validate servicer onboarding and loan transfer information.
• Reconcile and process monthly servicer remittance data.
• Partner with Middle Office and Operations teams on liquidity, trade allocations, settlements, and related activity.
• Handle day-to-day requests from portfolio managers, loan sellers, servicers, custodians, and other internal and external partners.
• Review and maintain the accuracy and integrity of loan-level portfolio data.
• Support repo financing activity and liquidity management related to whole loan strategies.
• Assist with the onboarding and ongoing management of relationships with loan sellers, servicers, custodians, repo counterparties, trustees, and calculation agents.
• Coordinate with custodians and loan sellers to confirm collateral documentation is received prior to funding and follow up on outstanding documentation.
• Review delinquency information, servicer notes, and prepayment protection.
• Participate in the ongoing development, testing, and improvement of proprietary whole loan portfolio management systems.
• Help improve and document accounting procedures, operational processes, internal controls, and workflows utilizing automation and AI where appropriate.
• Assist with P&L calculations and reporting for whole loan investments.
• Provide support for audit requests involving whole loan products.
• Assist with tax amortization calculations and related reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or progress toward a CPA is preferred but not required.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Strong Excel skills are required.
• Exposure to SQL, data analytics tools, automation, or AI platforms is a plus.
• Previous experience with structured products, mortgage loans, or whole loan investments is helpful but not required.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and sophisticated investment management environment.
• Motivated to learn and take on increasing responsibility as experience develops.
