Job Description:

Under general supervision, inspect and test the accuracy of high-speed fuel meters, truck meters, loading rack meters, CNG meters, milk meters, and associated devices.

This position is assigned to the following counties:

• AUGUSTA
• DUBLIN
• JACKSON
• MACON
• SAVANNAH

Job Summary:

• Thoroughly examine dispensing devices to ensure established standards are met
• Test and verify meter calibration
• Verifies accuracy of fuel dispensers by both monetary and volumetric indicators according to established procedures
• Responds to complaints promptly
• Investigates consumer complaints concerning accuracy of pumping devices and prepares documentation as needed
• Attends meetings and training seminars for updates and information
• Interacts with all levels of the Department in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation, and contributes to excellent performance
• This position requires occasional overnight travel

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

• Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license
• Must have a clean driving record
• Must be able to back trailer
• Must have communication and customer service skills
• Maintain State vehicle and all equipment related to the job
• Be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• General knowledge of window operating systems and basic computer skills
• Basic mathematical skills
• High school diploma or GED required
• Selected applicants must reside or be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance of assigned territory

Physical Demands:

• Standing for long periods of time; intermittent periods of walking, squatting, kneeling, or driving
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. for short periods of time.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience in the area of assignment; or two (2) years of college, which included 12 semester hours or 20 quarter hours in chemistry or life sciences and two (2) years of experience in a directly job-related area; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Agriculture Inspector 2 (RCT041) or position equivalent.
