The Callaway County Health Department is accepting applications for a full-time WIC Nutritionist position. The starting salary for this position is $42,000 - $55,000 annually (or $20.19 - $26.44 per hour) and comes with a full benefits package, including free health insurance, two retirement programs, paid vacation/sick/holiday leave, free life insurance policies, and much more.
This position plays a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of women, infants, and children by providing comprehensive nutrition services, education, and breastfeeding support in accordance with Missouri WIC Program policies.
The Callaway County Health Department is located at 4950 County Road 304 in Fulton, MO. The normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm with weekends and holidays off.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct nutrition assessments, determine eligibility, and assign risk factors for WIC participants
Obtain and document required health and demographic information, including anthropometric and hematological data
Provide individualized nutrition education, counseling, and goal setting with appropriate follow-up
Promote and support breastfeeding as the preferred infant feeding method, including education, assessment, and counseling
Prescribe appropriate WIC food packages, formulas, and nutritional supplements per program guidelines
Coordinate nutrition care with healthcare providers and make referrals as appropriate
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Management Information System (MIS)
Participate in staff trainings, in-services, and program development activities
Assist with training staff and may support day-to-day supervision of WIC team members as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must meet one of the following:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Nutrition (including required coursework in nutrition counseling, lifecycle nutrition, and food science), OR
Completion of an ACEND-accredited didactic program or dietetic internship, OR
Registered Dietitian (RD) or Licensed Dietitian (LD) (or eligible for registration)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of nutrition principles, especially maternal and child health
Understanding of breastfeeding benefits and support strategies
Ability to provide effective nutrition counseling and education
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build rapport with diverse populations
Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
Basic computer proficiency
Additional Requirements:
Completion of state-approved WIC training within required timeframes
Ongoing continuing education, including annual nutrition and breastfeeding-related CEUs
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based public health setting
