Become a WIC Peer Counselor!

Provide support to new mothers by assisting them with successful breastfeeding.

Connecting with other mothers who understand the challenges you face can be beneficial during pregnancy or early motherhood. This is the purpose of WIC peer counselors, who are mothers experienced in breastfeeding. They offer information and encouragement to other moms.

The WIC Program operates Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Job Responsibilities

WIC peer counselors provide essential breastfeeding information and support, including:

Tips for breastfeeding comfortably, even in public settings.
Suggestions for maintaining closeness with your baby while balancing work or school.
Ideas for obtaining support from family and friends.
Strategies for initiating breastfeeding effectively.
Advice on increasing breast milk supply.
Assistance with breastfeeding-related concerns.

Qualifications

Candidates must be currently breastfeeding or have breastfed at least one baby for a minimum of six months, possess a positive attitude toward breastfeeding, and demonstrate a desire to assist other mothers in having a rewarding experience.
