What You Will Be Doing
The Division of Forestry & Fire Protection provides wildland fire response and management for over 150 million acres of state, private, and municipal lands throughout Alaska. The Fire Protection Program is seeking a motivated, high-energy team member for the Assistant Center Manager position to support the Alaska Interagency Dispatch Centers. This critical position is part of the fire protection team whose purpose is to ensure public safety and the protection of Alaska’s communities, resources, and infrastructure from wildland fires.
The primary responsibilities for this position include representing the State of Alaska and leading daily operations within the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center for both State and Federal employees within the geographical area. The position co-manages the interagency geographic area intelligence and logistics coordination with Federal counterparts (BLM and USFS Coordinators) and has full management responsibility for Federal and State employees on a daily shift and oversees the resource ordering process in support of wildland fires or natural disasters.
This position has statewide authority and provides initial attack support for fire suppression in state protection areas. It also serves as the primary contact with the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center for resource mobilization on a statewide, national, and international level.

- Planning and budget management
