Job Title: Windows Server Automation Engineer
Duration: 12-24 Month Contract
Location: Chandler, AZ (Hybrid)
Required Pay Scale: $65-$70/hr W2

Job Summary:
The Windows Server Build Automation Engineer will develop and maintain a next‑generation, highly automated server build environment supporting enterprise‑scale infrastructure. This role works closely with engineering, automation, and platform teams to build Windows Server images, automate OS configuration, integrate Packer pipelines, and deliver secure, repeatable, and fully automated server provisioning workflows. Success in this role requires deep Windows Server expertise, strong PowerShell development skills, and hands‑on experience with Packer, Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD automation. The team values technical ownership, precision, and the ability to design, test, and transition automated build solutions into operational support.
Project Details:
- Build and enhance automated Windows Server image pipelines
- Develop Packer templates and integrate with CI/CD for image creation and deployment
- Automate Windows Server configuration using PowerShell, Ansible, and Chocolatey
- Support large‑scale cloud and on‑prem automation initiatives
- Collaborate with distributed engineering teams to design and test new service offerings
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security baselines and operational standards
- Document build processes, automation logic, and operational handoff materials
- High‑visibility engineering work impacting enterprise‑wide infrastructure delivery
Must Haves
- 4+ years Windows Server 2022/2025
- 7+ years overall MS Windows Server experience
- 5+ years PowerShell development (advanced functions, modules, automation)
- 2+ years HashiCorp Packer (image builds, templates, provisioning)
- Chocolatey / NuGet automation experience
- Strong Git experience (branching, version control, pipelines)
- 4+ years Ansible (Windows modules, WinRM, config automation)
- 2+ years Terraform (IaC, cloud provisioning)
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines
- Experience designing automated server build workflows
- Ability to work independently and in distributed engineering teams
Desired Skills
- Automation for large‑scale cloud deployments
- VMware vRealize
- Linux scripting (bash/python)
- API development (Swagger, WebAPI, JSON‑based services)
- Microsoft Azure experience
- Artifactory or similar artifact management tools
- Strong documentation and operational transition skills
- Experience improving automation processes or build frameworks
