    Summary

    Provide high quality care and education for children enrolled in one of the college's Windy Hill School programs as a team teacher. Abide by licensing standards. Model best practices in early care and education while providing guidance and training for Colby-Sawyer students in a lab school setting. Adherence to NAEYC's Code of Ethical Conduct. Collaborate with the Extended Day teachers to ensure consistency and stability for the full day children and families

    Essential Job Functions

    • Serve as a team teacher planning and implementing developmentally appropriate educational curriculum
    • Plan daily and long term investigations in collaboration with children. Organize and prepare necessary materials.
    • Align classroom curriculum to the children's needs and aligned with CHI courses.
    • Assist in training, planning/supervising and evaluating the daily activities of the college students (internships, work-study and practica).
    • Maintain a safe, organized and inviting indoor and outdoor environment.
    • Be prepared to be outdoors with children in all conditions.
    • Partner with parents to support children's school experience. Communicate daily at drop off and pick up. Utilize planning time to document children's strengths, progress, and areas of anticipated growth to share with families. Prepare developmental reports for children in their classroom at regular intervals. Offer supportive literature and resources as needed.
    • Be a reflective practitioner. Document learning in classroom for parents, caregivers, children, colleagues, self and college students.
    • Maintain professional development as outlined by the State of NH. Establish annual professional goals that align with Windy Hill and Colby-Sawyer College.
    • Carry out a variety of maintenance tasks such as cleaning up, setting up classroom, and organization of materials.
    • Assist in planning and carrying out field trips and special events.
    • Assist other teachers and director as needed with a variety of administrative tasks. Attend staff meetings. Participate in other school-wide projects outside of regular school hours.
    • Spend time in other classrooms to build community among children and colleagues.
    • Bachelor's degree in early childhood or elementary education. The ability to meet state and/or accreditation requirements for education and experience. Be able to meet State of NH requirements for lead teacher.
    • One to three years of relevant teaching/childcare experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
    • Broad base of knowledge and skills related to implementing educational curricula for assigned age group, including specific training in theories and methods applied in the various lab school programs.
    • Curriculum planning experience
    • First Aid and CPR
    • Computer literate and knowledge of technology based learning for young children
